Enjoy the subtle and open sound of a condenser capsule and get the powerful resonance of a dynamic microphone with the AKG D7 reference supercardioid dynamic microphone.
All the construction elements of the D7 work to create powerful and professional sound. Its patented dual-layer Varimotion diaphragm vibrates unhindered, which produces an impressively crisp and clean sound. The diaphragm is protected with a precision metal dust filter, which also increases the lifespan of the diaphragm. A unique laminated material is used to damp high resonance peaks in the frequency response; that material, along with the supercardioid polar pattern, is responsible for impressive high gain before feedback in the D7.
Handling noise and mechanical vibrations are essentially eliminated with a mechano-pneumatic capsule suspension and an integrated high-pass filter. As for withstanding sound levels from the sound source itself, the D7 is perfect for vocals, able to withstand 147 dB SPL at 1% THD.
