Audix DP Quad 4-Piece Drum Microphone Kit

The DPQUAD pack from Audix consists of four drum microphones grouped together to microphone a full drum kit. This arrangement employs a left overhead microphone to cover hi-hat, cymbals and rack toms, and a right overhead microphone to capture the floor tom and ride cymbal. With contemporary music and the volumes typically generated on stage, it is more practical and effective to create a blended effect of close miking and overhead miking – the exact intent of the DPQUAD. The D6 will help provide the earthshaking lows and the attack of the kick; the i5 will reinforce the depth and crack of the snare; the overheads will pick up the high-hat, tom fills, cymbals and the ambiance of the entire kit. With the DPQUAD, drums will maintain their sound integrity and critical presence, regardless of the size of the room and PA system.

Individual snare and kick microphones complete the essential punch needed for a good drum mix. Being high SPL dynamic microphones, the D6 and i5 excel at “close miking," a technique that's required for capturing the attack and percussive sound of the drum. Also, by having the mic close to the source of the sound, it helps to isolate and control the sound of each drum. With two correctly positioned overhead mics capture the transients, tonality and balance of the kit in a completely phase-coherent manner.

Known for its clear, accurate response and flexibility to handle close or distance miking for a wide variety of acoustic instruments, the ADX51 CONDENSER MICROPHONE is a professional pre-polarized condenser microphone used for stage, studio, and broadcast applications. Characterized with a uniformly controlled cardioid polar pattern, the ADX51 condenser microphone is designed to capture the acoustics of the instrument being miked while at the same time isolating it from the rest of the instruments on stage. With a wide frequency range of 40 Hz – 18 kHz, the ADX51 features a 14 mm gold vapor diaphragm and a -10 dB pad and bass roll-off filter at 150 Hz. The ADX51 is easy to position, durable, and manufactured to high standards and tight tolerances. Lightweight, compact, and easy to position, the D6 cardioid microphone is an excellent choice for miking instruments requiring extended low-frequency reproduction such as kick drums, large toms, and bass cabinets. The D6’s transformerless design, low impedance, and balanced output allow for interference-free performance. The D6 is characterized with a cardioid pickup pattern for isolation and feedback control and is equipped with a VLM™ (Very Low Mass) diaphragm for natural, accurate sound reproduction. The i5 ALL-PURPOSE DYNAMIC INSTRUMENT MICROPHONE is equipped with a VLM™ diaphragm for natural, accurate sound reproduction on a live stage, in the studio, and in broadcast applications. The i5 is characterized with a cardioid pickup pattern for isolation and feedback control. With a wide frequency response of 50 Hz – 16 kHz, the i5 provides clear sound reproduction without having to rely on EQ. The i5 is able to handle sound pressure levels in excess of 140 dB without distortion. Sturdy, compact, and easy to position, the i5 is manufactured with a precision cast zinc alloy body, dent resistant steel grill, durable black E-coat finish and gold plated XLR connector.
