The Studio Elite 8 is a premium 8-piece ensemble of drum microphones that can be used for a variety of recording applications. The Audix D Series and i5 represent the finest dynamic instrument microphones available today. Combined with the SCX25A and the SCX1HC. This collection of microphones enables artists and engineers to capture the sound at the source, regardless of the type of instrument or genre of music.

This collection of mics work in tandem to create the right blend on stage or in the studio regardless of the size of the room or PA system. The D6 will help provide the earthshaking lows and the attack of the kick; the i5 will reinforce the depth and crack of the snare; the D2 and D4 capture the attack and decay of rack and floor toms; the SCX1HC is the quintessential microphone for hi-hat. With the SCX25A for overheads, drums will maintain their sound integrity and critical presence.

The D6 for kick drum and the i5 for snare are considered must-haves for every drummer to establish the foundation for a great groove. Being high SPL dynamic microphones, the D6, i5, D2 and D4 excel at “close miking.” This miking technique is required in order to capture the attack and percussive sound of the drum. By having the mic close to the source of the sound, it helps to isolate and control the sound of each drum.

Positioned correctly, the SCX1 and SCX25A can capture the transients, tonality and balance of a drum kit in a completely phase-coherent manner. The SCX1 condenser microphone with a 21mm gold sputtered diaphragm, is designed with overhead applications in mind. Due to its cardioid pickup pattern, high sensitivity and pencil design, the two SCX25A “lollipop” mics can be easily positioned overhead to provide a nice stereo image of the entire drum kit.

The D2 dynamic instrument microphone is an excellent choice for miking instruments with a percussive nature such as rack toms, congas, saxophones, guitar cabinets, and brass in stage, studio, and broadcast applications. Transformerless design, low impedance, and balanced output insure that the D2 hypercardioid instrument microphone will perform interference-free.

The D2 instrument microphone is characterized with a hypercardioid pickup pattern for isolation and feedback control and is equipped with a VLM™ (Very Low Mass) diaphragm for natural, accurate sound reproduction. This instrument mic has a wide frequency response of 68 Hz - 18 kHz and the ability to handle sound pressure levels in excess of 144 dB.

Manufactured with a precision machined aluminum body, durable black anodized finish, dent resistant steel mesh grill and gold plated XLR connector, the D2 instrument mic is lightweight, compact and easy to position. Transformerless design, low impedance, and balanced output allow for interferencefree performance even with long cable runs.

The D4 dynamic instrument microphone is an excellent choice for miking instruments requiring precise, low-frequency reproduction such as large rack toms, floor toms, cajon, djembe, tympani, leslie bottom, bass flute, saxophone and baritone saxophone, trombone, acoustic bass, bass cabinets, and small kick drums.

The D4 instrument microphone is lightweight, compact, and easy to position. Used for stage, studio, and broadcast applications, the D4 dynamic instrument microphone is designed with a hypercardioid pickup pattern for isolation and feedback control. The D4 instrument microphone has a wide frequency response of 40 Hz – 18 kHz and the ability to handle SPLs in excess of 144 dB. The D4 instrument mic hypercardioid is also equipped with a VLM™ diaphragm for natural accurate sound reproduction.

The D6 dynamic instrument microphone is an excellent choice for miking instruments requiring extended low-frequency reproduction such as kick drums, large toms, and bass cabinets in stage, studio and broadcast applications.. The D6’s transformerless design, low impedance, and balanced output allow for interference-free performance. The D6 intrument microphone has a tailored frequency response of 30 Hz - 15 kHz and the ability to handle sound pressure levels in excess of 144 dB.

The D6 instrument mic is characterized with a cardioid pickup pattern for isolation and feedback control and is equipped with a VLM™ (Very Low Mass) diaphragm for natural, accurate sound reproduction. Transformerless design, low impedance and balanced output allow for interference-free performance even with long cable runs. The D6 dynamic instrument mic is lightweight, compact and easy to position. The D6 instrument microphone is manufactured with a precision machined aluminum body, black anodized finish, steel mesh grill and gold plated XLR connector.

The i5 all-purpose dynamic instrument microphone is equipped with a VLM™ diaphragm for natural, accurate sound reproduction on a live stage, in the studio, and in broadcast applications. The i5 instrument microphone is characterized with a cardioid pickup pattern for isolation and feedback control. With a wide frequency response of 50 Hz – 16 kHz, the i5 provides clear sound reproduction without having to rely on EQ. The i5 is able to handle sound pressure levels in excess of 140 dB without distortion. The i5 instrument microphone is sturdy, compact, and easy to position. The i5 dynamic instrument mic is manufactured with a precision cast zinc alloy body, dent resistant steel grill, durable black E-coat finish and gold plated XLR connector.

A professional studio condenser microphone known for its high sensitivity, pin-point accuracy, low profile and consistency, the SCX1 condenser microphones is designed for a wide variety of recording, broadcast and live sound applications. The SCX1 is characterized with a wide cardioid polar pattern. Available with three different polar patterns—Cardioid (SCX1C), Hypercardioid (SCX1HC) and Omnidirectional (SCX1O)—the principal applications for the SCX1 are recording, sound design, broadcast and live sound applications. The SCX1 offers a consistent response to on and off axis signals while exhibiting excellent phase coherence and minimal proximity effects. The SCX1 has a 21 mm gold vapor capsule, miniaturized electronics and an extremely small footprint. With a smooth uniform frequency response from 40 Hz - 20 kHz, the SCX1 is very consistent when responding to on and off-axis signals, and exhibits excellent phase coherence and minimal proximity effect. Other features include a 21 mm gold vapor capsule, miniaturized electronics and an extremely small footprint. The SCX1 will handle sound pressure levels of 130 dB and will provide up to 20 dB of ambient noise rejection. It has a precision machined brass body, interchangeable capsules, black multi-layer class ‘A’ liquid finish and gold plated XLR connector.

Affectionately referred to as “The Lollipop,” the SCX25A professional studio condenser microphone has an elegant design and a patented capsule suspension system. Uniquely shock-mounted within an intricate machined brass ring, the capsule is completely isolated from the mic body and electronics. By successfully minimizing acoustic reflections and diffractions, the SCX25A delivers a pure, open air sound with exceptional detail and realism. The SCX25A is consistent when responding to on and off-axis signals. This mic exhibits outstanding phase coherence and minimal proximity effect. With a wide cardioid polar pattern, the SCX25A enables the sound engineer to blend the sound of the instrument or vocal with the sound of the room. The SCX25A will handle SPLs in excess of 135 dB and provides up to 20 dB of ambient noise rejection. With a smooth uniform frequency response from 20 Hz - 20 kHz, the SCX25A is very consistent when responding to on and off-axis signals, exhibiting excellent phase coherence and minimal proximity effect. The SCX25A has a wide cardioid polar pattern which enables the sound engineer the opportunity to blend the sound of the instrument or vocal with the sound of the room.
