Of all the DPA miniature microphones, the 4660 Heavy Duty series is the most robust. A Kevlar-reinforced cable and a strain relief are built in to help the mic withstand the continuous twisting, bending and pulling that occurs in harsh environments. The mic is extremely resistant to sweat and humidity due to a pre-polarized condenser element inside a vertical diaphragm called the Double Vent Protection System. This extreme durability has earned this microphone a role on TV shows where it has been used to capture the clicks and taps of dance rehearsals from underneath dancers’ shoes. This mic is available in black or brown.

The 4660 has an omnidirectional pattern and does not need to be pointed directly at the sound to capture quality sound. Because of its pickup pattern, compact size and durability, the mic can hide easily and is well-suited for achieving nuanced speech and high-end ambient recordings. Like many DPA mics, the 4660 includes a MicroDot termination, which enables the mic to be run with a wireless system. Use an adapter (sold separately) to connect your wireless system to the 4660 lavalier. Operating at normal SPLs, this lavalier mic can reach 134 dB before clipping. Modify the acoustic response with the two included anodized stainless-steel grids. The pre-fitted Soft Boost Grid creates a natural-sounding atmosphere with a 3dB soft boost at 8-20 kHz, and is designed for use when the mic is mounted on the performer’s head. In applications where the microphone’s chest-placement is preferred, the High Boost Grid adds a 10 dB soft boost around 12 kHz.

This wireless lav mic uses CORE technology. CORE uses the same capsule as Legacy, and makes improvements to minimize distorition and significantly expand dynamic range up to 14 dB (capsule dependent).
