The SB122 12-Inch Compact Subwoofer from Electro-Voice is quite possibly the smallest, most powerful subwoofer on the planet. Packing 400-watt continuous power handling (1600-watt peak) into a 33 lbs (15 kg) package, the SB122 delivers incredible performance for its size.

Designed to enhance the bass of Electro-Voice’s Sx and Zx Series of speaker systems, the SB122 combines a long-throw 12" woofer with a strong, lightweight composite enclosure. The large vent provides less compression and turbulence, increasing low-frequency output.

A crucial component of the SB122 is its cast frame EVS12SB transducer. This 12-inch high excursion subwoofer driver was engineered specifically for the SB112 and uses the same motor and suspension design as the EVS18S used in EV’s larger systems.

Boasting an integral low-pass filter, the SB122 can be directly connected in parallel with a full-range speaker, with impressive low-end results without the necessity of connecting to external amplifiers or processors. This filter is transparent below 160Hz, allowing the sub to be used independently in biamp applications without needing to disable the internal filter. On the other hand, it is recommended to use a 40Hz Hi-pass (subsonic) filter when incorporating the SB112 into applications that utilize maximum output in biamp or when needing to protect the full-range system when running in parallel.

A pole mount socket at the top of the SB122’s enclosure allows you to conveniently mount a small full-range speaker such as the Zx1 or Sx80 using an optional ASP-1 accessory pole, resulting in a compact system that sounds much bigger than it looks. (Loudspeakers and accessory pole are sold separately.) Additionally, this subwoofer’s integrated handle makes it easier to transport or reposition in the stage or studio.

About Passive Speakers at Sound Productions

Enjoy full flexibility and customization with passive speakers from Sound Productions! All speakers need a sort of amplifier to function; while powered speakers come with amplifiers built-in, passive speakers need external gear to be connected, including external amplifiers or stereo receivers, speaker cables, and possibly an outboard crossover or other signal processing gear.

Personalization is the hallmark of passive speakers. Mix-and-match components to fit the highly-specific needs of any given project. Scale to fit a larger space or add surround sound as your audio needs change. Because there’s more space inside passive speaker housing, passive speakers can accommodate larger drivers, resulting in a more pristine, accurate sound reproduction where it’s needed most, such as concert halls, entertainment venues, or special events.

Passive speakers are ideal for when you need flexibility and customization options. Often this means professional applications, such as venues where the sound system needs to be scalable and versatile, or for audio projects that require the most accurate and reliable sound reproduction.
