ADJ Solutions

The ADJ 12P Hex IP is engineered for the rigors of real-world production. Its IP65 rating shields it from rain, snow, and dust, making it equally at home on an outdoor festival stage as it is in a permanent install. Heavy-duty all-metal construction stands up to the constant transport, rigging, and derigging of touring life. Inside, 12 x 12W RGBAW+UV HEX LEDs deliver rich, smooth color washes across a 30° beam with 63 built-in color macros. When conditions get tough, this fixture keeps performing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What's the difference between the 12P Hex IP and the standard ADJ 12P Hex?

The key difference is the IP65 weatherproof rating. The standard 12P Hex is designed for indoor use only, while the 12P Hex IP features sealed, locking power and DMX connectors and an all-metal housing built to withstand outdoor conditions like rain, snow, and dust.

  • How should this fixture be maintained after outdoor use?

After outdoor events, it's recommended to wipe down the fixture with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove debris, and inspect the IP-rated connector covers to ensure they're properly sealed for the next use. The LEDs are rated for approximately 50,000 hours, so bulb replacement is not typically a concern during the fixture's lifespan.

  • What DMX controller is recommended for use with this fixture?

The 12P Hex IP is compatible with any standard 5-pin DMX controller. ADJ's own controllers, such as the ADJ WiFLY EXR or myDMX series, pair well with it, but any controller capable of addressing up to 13 channels will work. For wireless control, an RDM-compatible controller can take full advantage of the fixture's Remote Device Management support.

  • Can this fixture be controlled wirelessly?

Not natively — it uses wired 5-pin DMX connections. However, it supports RDM (Remote Device Management), and a wireless DMX transmitter/receiver (such as ADJ's WiFLY series) can be added to the signal chain to enable wireless control without modifying the fixture.

  • Is the UV output strong enough for blacklight effects on a stage?

The UV component is integrated into each of the 12 x 12W HEX LEDs rather than being a dedicated UV source, so while it's effective for adding a UV tint and enhancing whites and fluorescent colors, it may not be as intense as a fixture with dedicated high-power UV LEDs. It works well as a supplemental effect in a larger rig.

  • Is this fixture a good fit for permanent installation, or is it better suited for touring/events?

While the IP65 rating and all-metal construction make it durable enough for permanent outdoor installations, the scissor yoke mount and wired IP-rated connections are also well-suited for touring and temporary event setups. For permanent installs, you'd want to ensure the mounting structure accommodates the 10.5 lb weight and that proper weatherproofing of cable runs is addressed separately.
