Introducing the Allen & Heath Qu-3 and Qu-3D: Qu Power in a Compact Desktop Mixer

Following the success of the Qu-5, Qu-6, and Qu-7, Allen & Heath brings the full power of the Qu range to a new desktop format. The Qu-3 and Qu-3D are 32-input, 96kHz digital mixers with 8+1 motorised faders, a 7" capacitive touchscreen, and the same XCVI core processing found across the Qu family. The Qu-3D adds a built-in 16x16 Dante port for seamless connection with other Dante-enabled gear, making it a strong fit for AV, conference, broadcast, and studio spaces where room is tight. With a screen angle designed for desktop use, plus 6 FX engines, Automatic Mic Mixing, Gain Assistant, Feedback Assistant, and free remote control apps for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, these mixers pair professional features with easy, hands-on control.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between the Allen & Heath Qu-3 and the Qu-3D?

Both are 32-input, 96kHz digital mixers with the same processing, features, and desktop form factor. The Qu-3D adds a built-in 16x16 48/96 kHz Dante port, so it can connect directly to other Dante-enabled equipment. If your system uses Dante, choose the Qu-3D. If not, the Qu-3 covers everything else.

  • Can I record and play back audio with the Qu-3?

Yes. The USB-A port handles stereo recording, playback, and data transfer. The USB-C port works as a 32x32 multichannel audio interface. The SD card slot supports multichannel recording and playback at 16x16 at 96kHz or 32x32 at 48kHz.

  • What is the Qu-3 designed for?

The Qu-3 and Qu-3D are designed primarily for desktop use in AV, conference, broadcast, and studio applications. The compact footprint and angled screen make them a good fit where space is limited, though they are versatile enough for a wide range of other uses.

  • Can I control the Qu-3 remotely?

Yes. Free remote control apps are available for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, and the mixer includes an RJ45 network socket for connecting to your network.

  • How many inputs and outputs does the Qu-3 have?

The Qu-3 offers 16 XLR/jack combi mic/line inputs and one stereo line input (2x TRS), with 8 XLR outputs, a stereo AES3 digital output, and a stereo headphone output. It mixes up to 36 inputs (32 mono/linkable and 2 stereo), with a stereo main LR output, 12 mixes, and 4 mono/linkable matrixes.

  • Can the Qu-3 be rack mounted, and can I expand it?

Yes. The Qu-3 is 19" rack-mountable with an optional kit. For expansion, the 128x128 SLink port supports Everything I/O expansion and system connections, and optional DEEP processing and RackExtra FX add-ons are available
