Chauvet Professional COLORado
Batten Q15: Light That Speaks Softly

The Chauvet Professional COLORado Batten Q15 brings a quiet, reliable architectural wash to sanctuary lighting, built for teams who want rich color mixing without the noise or complexity of a traditional rig. Fifteen individually controllable RGBW LEDs eliminate the "skittle" look you get from cheaper battens, and the IP65 rating means it holds up whether it's mounted indoors above the platform or outdoors along an entryway. With convection cooling instead of a fan, it runs completely silent, an easy upgrade for uplighting walls, accenting the stage, or washing a baptistry in warm, even color during a service.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What's the difference between an RGBW LED batten and a standard LED wash light?

An RGBW batten like the COLORado Batten Q15 adds a dedicated white LED to the usual red, green, and blue mix, which gives you cleaner whites and softer pastels than an RGB-only fixture can produce. The Q15 goes further with 15 individually controllable LEDs along its length, so instead of one flat wash, you get smooth gradients and pixel-mapped effects with no visible gaps between cells.

  • How does the COLORado Batten Q15 fit into a permanent AVL install?

Its IP65 housing, adjustable trunnions, and back plate mounting options make it a practical fit for a permanent architectural install, whether you're running a row of them along a wall or floor mounting for uplighting. DMX and RDM support means it drops into an existing lighting network cleanly, and the included wall wash filter widens the native 16-degree beam to 43 degrees for even coverage across longer runs.

  • Is the COLORado Batten Q15 rated for outdoor or humid installations?

Yes. It carries an IP65 rating, so it's built to handle dust, moisture, and the kind of humidity swings you'd see in an uncovered breezeway or an outdoor courtyard, not just a climate-controlled sanctuary. That same rating also makes it a solid pick for baptistries and other spaces where water is part of the equation.

  • Could this fixture also work in a school auditorium or theater program?

It can. The same qualities that make it a good fit for a sanctuary- quiet operation, smooth color mixing, and a wide wash pattern- also suit auditorium accent lighting or house lighting for a drama program. It won't replace a dedicated theatrical ellipsoidal for front-of-house spotlighting, but as an architectural wash or color accent for the room, it holds up well.

  • Will the COLORado Batten Q15 be too loud or distracting during a quiet moment in the service?

No. The Q15 uses convection cooling instead of a fan, so there's no whir or hum to compete with a spoken prayer or a quiet worship set. It's designed to sit in the background visually and acoustically, so the light does the work without anyone noticing the fixture itself.

  • What are the technical specs on color temperature range and dimming?

The COLORado Batten Q15 offers selectable color temperature presets from 1800K up to 8000K, giving you everything from a warm, candle-like glow to a cool daylight tone from the same fixture. It also includes five selectable dimming curves for smooth, even fades, so you can match the feel of the room whether you're bringing lights up slowly before a service or cutting quickly between scenes.
