Sennheiser at SALT 2026: Spectera Wireless Made Simple

Join SoundPro and Sennheiser in The SoundPro Main Stage Experience at SALT 2026 on Friday, October 16 at 11:00am. When your team grows, your wireless setup gets complicated fast, and Sennheiser Spectera is built to simplify it. The Spectera Base Station packs up to 64 channels (32 in and 32 out) into one rack space, handling wireless mics, in-ear monitors, and control data on a single wideband RF carrier. The Spectera SKM handheld brings that same bidirectional link to the stage with AES-256 encryption, remote monitoring, and your choice of Sennheiser and Neumann capsules.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Sennheiser Spectera, and how is it different from a traditional wireless mic system?

Spectera is a wideband, bidirectional digital wireless ecosystem. Instead of dedicating a narrow RF channel to each mic or monitor, it uses WMAS technology to carry an entire production on a single wideband RF carrier of 6 or 8 MHz. Audio and control data share the same carrier, so you can set up wireless mics, wireless in-ear monitors, or both, all managed from one rack mounted base station.

  • What should an integrator know about Spectera antennas, networking, and licensing?

The Spectera DAD transceiving antennas connect point to point to the base station with CAT 5e or higher over a ruggedized RJ45 connector, and they cannot be run through a network switch. The base station offers Dante and optional MADI, up to four DAD antennas per base station, and UHF or 1G4 variants. Each base station needs a license for its region, and software like LinkDesk handles activation, control, and monitoring.

  • Do I need the Spectera Base Station to use the Spectera SKM handheld?

Yes. The SKM is built for the Spectera ecosystem, so it works with a Spectera Base Station. The base station is a 1RU unit with up to 64 channels, redundant power supplies, and Dante connectivity, and each base station is activated with a region specific license through Sennheiser LinkDesk software. Your SoundPro Account Manager can help you scope the right pieces for your system.

  • Is Spectera practical for a school auditorium or theater program?

It can be, especially for programs running many actors, presenters, or musicians at once. A single base station replaces a rack full of individual receivers, the SKM handheld is built with a metal housing and works with Sennheiser and Neumann capsules, and AES-256 encryption protects audio and control data. If your needs are smaller, your Account Manager can compare Spectera against other Sennheiser lines to find the right fit for your budget.

  • How can a worship team with lots of vocalists and in-ear mixes simplify its wireless setup?

Spectera is made for that situation. One Base Station handles up to 32 inputs and 32 outputs, the SKM covers handheld vocalists and speakers, and the SEK bodypack manages an in-ear mix and a mic or line signal at the same time. Up to four DAD antennas can connect to one base station for coverage and redundancy, and remote control and monitoring in LinkDesk makes it easier to reconfigure quickly between a Sunday service and a bigger event.

  • What does wideband WMAS technology mean for dropouts and RF interference?

Spectera uses a multicarrier, TDMA, TDD transmission scheme on a wideband RF channel, which Sennheiser says makes the system far more resistant to dropouts and RF fading than narrowband systems. The link is continuously managed for interference, the RF connection between base station and transmitter is encrypted, and the bidirectional link reports RF health and battery status back to you in real time.
