Usually not. Powered speakers include onboard DSP that handles crossover, EQ, and limiting internally. A standalone processor is for passive speaker systems run through separate power amplifiers.
What does a speaker processor actually protect against?
Limiting functions prevent amplifier clipping and driver damage from excessive input levels. Crossover functions keep low frequencies out of high-frequency drivers and vice versa, a common cause of blown components in poorly configured systems.
