The C636 from AKG is a cardioid condenser microphone that’s built to handle the rigors of live sound applications. Based on the legendary C535, this updated condenser mic delivers the quality you crave while the rugged housing delivers the durability your project demands. As such, the C636 is ideal for live vocals in all sorts of environments, from small clubs to the largest stadiums.

Using handpicked components that maintain the uncompressed sound of the C535, the C636 features a custom-tuned cardioid condenser capsule that is capable of capturing your performance with unfiltered, nuanced fidelity and a pure, transparent tone. The cardioid polar pattern eliminates feedback while minimizing the pickup of noise from the sides and rear. A proprietary double shock suspension system minimizes handling noise and equips this mic to do what most condensers can only dream: handle on-stage audio in the most energetic performances.
When it comes to getting great performance from a condenser mic, it’s what’s inside that counts. With extremely rugged zinc alloy construction and a spring steel grille, the C636 stands up to the most demanding tours. Its 24-karat gold-plated capsule protects the mic against moisture and corrosion. Its capsule sits on a highly absorbent rubber bearing, eliminating any structure-based noise, while an adjustable balancing network cancels vibrations over a wide frequency range.
Pops can be the nemesis of a good performance. With this in mind, AKG has developed a unique triple-layer protection system to keep your sound flawless. This state-of-the-art, multi-layer pop noise rejection system provides clear, plosive-free performance for singers and other vocals. The protection system consists of a grille, a foam layer behind the grille, and a magnetically-attached computer-modeled mesh layer on top of the capsule. In addition, a substantial brass layer below the capsule serves as a counterweight that increases stability and delivers cleaner acoustics.
