The AtlasIED 170-8A is a two-piece cold-rolled steel ceiling baffle designed for integrators and installers working with standard 8-inch ceiling speaker systems. Its die-formed frame with shallow bevel and perforated grille maintains a low-profile, finished aesthetic suited to commercial and institutional environments where speaker visibility needs to be minimized.
The separate 20-gauge CRS speaker mounting subplate is engineered to extend bass response by creating a sealed rear cavity that reduces low-frequency leakage — a critical detail in multi-zone distributed audio installations where sound bleed between zones degrades intelligibility. Concealed mounting studs keep the installation surface clean and professional without exposed hardware.
Built from 18-gauge CRS trim and 22-gauge perforated grille stock with a textured white epoxy finish, the 170-8A is durable enough for high-traffic commercial ceilings and suitable for both ceiling and wall-mount configurations.
