The AA400PHD is built for commercial AV integrators deploying distributed audio in medium-to-large facilities — corporate paging, background music, speech privacy, and music-on-hold environments where system reliability must be confirmed before handoff. Four balanced mic/line inputs with selectable phantom power plus two stereo summing line inputs accommodate paging microphones, media players, and digital music receivers in a single rackmountable chassis.

What separates this unit from conventional commercial mixer amplifiers is the Push Here Diagnostic system. Rather than manually tracing speaker lines after installation, the integrator presses a single button and the amplifier automatically checks that tap settings do not exceed rated output power, that no speakers are erroneously tapped at 8Ω, and that all speaker wire is free of shorts. This eliminates a time-consuming commissioning step and reduces costly return visits to the job site.

For facilities requiring user-accessible control, the Remote Input Selection and Remote Level Control feature supports a remote wall plate up to 200 feet from the amplifier, allowing end users to switch sources and adjust volume without touching the rack. A rear-panel DIP switch enables a discrete Zone 2 output mix from any combination of inputs 1–4, and the configurable mute function silences inputs 2–6 whenever input 1 carries a page — a critical requirement in any facility where announcements must override background audio cleanly.
