The AtlasIED FA138T87 is engineered for AV integrators and system designers specifying distributed audio in commercial, institutional, and hospitality environments. The coaxial design pairs a reinforced polypropylene cone woofer with a mylar-dome ferrofluid-cooled tweeter, driven through an on-board high-pass/low-pass crossover for coherent full-range reproduction without an external crossover network. The factory-installed 8-watt 70.7V transformer with selectable 1, 2, 4, and 8-watt primary taps gives installers flexibility to balance system load without additional hardware.
The FA138T87 integrates directly into the Strategy Series ecosystem, front-loading into either the acoustically optimized FA97-8 enclosure or the economy FA95-8 backbox — both designed for single-tool ceiling installation using rotating clamps. For shallow-plenum or no-enclosure applications, the FAPR-8 plaster ring allows flush mounting where depth is constrained. New construction projects benefit from the FA-TR8 template ring for pre-drywall layout. The weather-resistant driver construction, custom butyl rubber surround, and vented Kapton voice coil support long-term reliability in demanding environments.
UL1480 safety listing satisfies specification requirements for life-safety-adjacent installations and supports compliance documentation on commercial projects.
