The AtlasIED HLE-3 is an explosion-proof compression driver purpose-built for life-safety voice communication and electronic signal distribution in hazardous industrial environments, including facilities where hydrogen, combustible gases, and flammable vapors are present. It is designed for system integrators and facility engineers who require UL-listed equipment that satisfies strict regulatory requirements without compromising audio intelligibility.
Unlike standard commercial drivers, the HLE-3 is classified for Class 1, Groups B, C, and D environments, making it one of the few compression drivers suitable for petrochemical plants, refineries, and other facilities governed by NEC hazardous location codes. The die-cast aluminum housing incorporates a pipe seal with integral field wiring leads, enabling direct conduit connection for code-compliant installation in demanding industrial settings.
System designers have flexibility in coverage pattern through two UL-listed horn options: the HLE_MLE-30 polycarbonate projector for wide-area 120° x 60° dispersion, and the HLE_MLE-32 spun aluminum bell for 95° circular distribution. Both horns are the only UL-listed accessories approved for pairing with this driver, ensuring the complete assembly maintains its safety listing for use in classified environments. A five-year warranty further supports long-term deployed installations.
