AtlasIED IED1544BAS Four Channel Backup Amplifier Switch

The AtlasIED IED1544BAS is designed for systems integrators and installed audio engineers who require fault-tolerant amplifier redundancy in life-safety, paging, or critical public address installations. It monitors up to four independent speaker load channels and automatically transfers each from the primary amplifier to a designated backup unit the moment a failure is detected, keeping audio paths live without manual intervention.

In standalone mode, logic outputs from the primary amplifier drive contact closures that trigger per-channel switching independently, making the unit deployable without any network infrastructure. In network control mode, the IED1544BAS integrates directly with the IED GLOBALCOM supervision subsystem, allowing multiple units to share a single backup amplifier across a larger distributed system — all switching logic handled via network commands. This scalability makes it practical for multi-zone facilities such as airports, hospitals, educational campuses, and transportation hubs where amplifier failure tolerance is a code or design requirement.

Powered by standard IEEE 802.3af PoE, the IED1544BAS simplifies installation by eliminating a dedicated power run; an external 48VDC input is also provided for standalone deployments. Its compact enclosure supports DIN rail mounting or direct panel and wall fastening, allowing placement close to amplifiers inside equipment racks. Per-channel yellow LED indicators and a green power LED give technicians immediate visual confirmation of system state during commissioning and maintenance.
