The AtlasIED IP-8SM is engineered for AV integrators and IT-managed audio deployments in facilities where network-based public address and intercom are required. The speaker mounts to walls or ceilings and draws power over a standard PoE+ network connection, eliminating dedicated audio wiring infrastructure. Its 8" coaxial driver is tuned for voice intelligibility rather than music reproduction, making it purpose-built for paging, emergency notification, and intercom in high-ambient-noise environments like manufacturing floors, transportation hubs, and large institutional spaces.

The IP-8SM registers directly as a SIP endpoint or integrates natively with Singlewire InformaCast and SA-Announce Advanced Notification platforms, enabling bell schedules, pre-recorded announcements, live paging, and two-way intercom from any SIP-capable device or VoIP communications manager. Its omni-directional electret condenser microphone, mounted behind the steel grille, enables real talkback from the speaker location without a separate pickup device. GPI/O ports allow physical trigger inputs for intercom requests and integration with third-party security or alerting systems — a practical advantage in access control or duress button scenarios.
