The AtlasIED IP116-D-EDU is the education-edition of the GLOBALCOM hardware announcement controller, purpose-built for IT directors, AV integrators, and life-safety engineers deploying campus-wide or multi-building paging and intercom systems. Whether the application is a K–12 campus, higher education facility, or large institutional complex, this 1U rack-mount unit serves as the central engine managing live, delayed, and scheduled announcements across a standards-based Audio over IP network.

Unlike software-only or cloud-dependent platforms, the IP116-D-EDU ships with GCK software preloaded and operates as a standalone hardware controller from day one. Integrators can connect microphone stations, VoIP phones, amplifiers, and third-party life-safety or building management systems directly to the controller, with audio, control, and status signals routed intelligently across the network. Direct mic-to-amp low-latency paging operates independently of Dante channel capacity, preserving those channels for message distribution and remote system integration.

For facilities requiring fault tolerance, the IP116-D-EDU supports warm failover in Lifeline Mode when paired with a second controller — a critical capability for emergency notification compliance in educational environments. Its Gigabit Ethernet interface, balanced line inputs, eight logic inputs, and eight relay outputs give integrators the physical I/O needed to connect to access control, fire alarm, and bell scheduling systems without external interface hardware.
