The AtlasIED MLE-3 is a purpose-built explosion-proof compression driver for facilities where combustible or hazardous atmospheric conditions demand certified audio hardware. Engineered for high-intelligibility voice and electronic signal communication, it is UL Listed to UL1203 and approved for Class 1, Groups B, C, and D environments — including hydrogen-rated applications where most conventional drivers are simply not rated to operate.
System integrators working in petrochemical plants, refineries, industrial facilities, and other hazardous locations will find the MLE-3 suited to paging, emergency communication, and general signal distribution. The die-cast aluminum housing provides mechanical robustness, while the pipe seal with integral field wiring leads simplifies conduit-run installation. The adjustable mounting bracket allows flexible positioning in tight or overhead installations without additional hardware.
The MLE-3 is compatible with two optional UL Listed projector horns — the HLE_MLE-30 polycarbonate horn for wide-area 120° x 60° coverage and the HLE_MLE-32 spun aluminum bell for a 95° circular distribution pattern — allowing the system designer to match dispersion to the coverage zone without compromising hazardous-location compliance. Only these two horns maintain UL Listed status when used with the MLE-3.
