The AtlasIED Q Series steel enclosures are purpose-built for sound contractors and AV integrators specifying permanent ceiling installations in commercial, institutional, and hospitality environments. Constructed from 18-gauge cold rolled steel with compound knockouts on all four sides, these enclosures accommodate a wide variety of field-specific conduit and wiring configurations without requiring additional drilling or modification on-site.
The interior treatment sets the Q Series apart from bare-metal alternatives. Acoustical fiberboard is permanently affixed to the inner walls to eliminate the resonant hangover common in large metal enclosures, while thick fiberglass lining controls high-frequency resonances that degrade intelligibility in installed systems. Back-panel ribs add structural rigidity without increasing profile, and the isolated front mounting panel — separated from the enclosure body by a foam gasket — prevents metal-to-metal contact that would otherwise introduce coloration.
Slotted mounting tabs welded to parallel sides accept optional QR30 mounting channels for ceiling suspension, or can be adapted to installer-specific rigging methods. The black textured epoxy finish meets aesthetic requirements for exposed ceiling applications. Sound contractors should verify enclosure weight against mounting substrate ratings before installation.
