The Audix NCTH Novacore tight hypercardioid capsule is built for vocalists and performers working in high-SPL environments where isolation and feedback control are non-negotiable. It targets lead vocalists, singing drummers, and comedians performing on loud stages where conventional capsules struggle to separate the source from the surrounding noise floor. The tight hypercardioid polar pattern rejects off-axis sound by more than 30 dB, making it a direct enabler of cleaner in-ear monitor mixes and higher gain before feedback with stage floor monitors.
At the core of the NCTH is Audix VLM (Very Low Mass) diaphragm technology, a proprietary design that gives the capsule an exceptionally fast transient response. Where standard wireless capsules smear percussive consonants and vocal attack, the VLM diaphragm tracks them with precision. The capsule's internal suspension system provides mechanical shock absorption and acoustic damping, reducing handling noise that would otherwise contaminate a clean wireless signal path. Maximum SPL handling of 144 dB gives powerful vocalists ample headroom without distortion. The intentionally low, unboosted output accommodates varied transmitter gain structures and keeps self-noise out of the signal chain, though users should plan on adjusting transmitter gain and receiver output levels accordingly.
Constructed from aluminum with a steel mesh grille, the NCTH is designed, assembled, and tested in the USA. It connects via a 1/4-28 UN thread pitch S-Type connector, fitting a range of compatible wireless transmitters. For touring engineers and production teams who need consistent, feedback-resistant vocal performance night after night, the NCTH is a capsule-level upgrade that addresses the real-world limitations of loud stage environments.
