The Blackmagic Design Streaming Encoder 4K is engineered for broadcast engineers, live production teams, and AV integrators who need a dedicated, rack-mountable streaming solution without relying on a host computer. Accepting 12G-SDI signals with automatic standards conversion, it ingests virtually any HD or Ultra HD camera feed and encodes it in H.264 or H.265 at resolutions up to 2160p60, streaming directly over RTMP or SRT to YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, Vimeo, Restream, and dozens of additional platforms.

In live production environments where network conditions are unpredictable, the dual-path connectivity is a practical advantage: operators can route the stream over a wired Ethernet connection or tether a 5G or 4G smartphone via USB to use mobile data as a failover or primary path. Two USB-C webcam outputs at up to 2160p60 allow the unit to appear as a UVC device in any compatible software — Zoom, OBS Studio, Microsoft Teams, Wirecast, and more — without additional capture hardware.

For technical monitoring, dedicated SDI and HDMI outputs deliver 1080p reference feeds to confidence monitors or scopes, while the built-in 2.2-inch LCD and six-button front panel with spin knob allow on-device control without a laptop. CEA-608 and CEA-708 closed caption pass-through over RTMP, HDR metadata support including HLG and multiple ST2084 levels, and source timecode embedding over both RTMP and SRT make this encoder appropriate for broadcast-grade productions where compliance and metadata integrity are non-negotiable. The one-third rack unit width and 1U height simplify integration into existing fly packs and production racks.
