City Theatrical 1404 Right Angle Beam Bender For ColorSource Spot Jr.

The Beam Bender turns a fixture's output ninety degrees from its body axis. A unit can sit horizontally and throw light straight down, or point down and send light out sideways. This model is sized for the ColorSource Spot Jr., giving designers a way to place that fixture where the rig geometry would otherwise rule it out.

Designers reach for it when scenery, trusses, or other obstructions block a direct shot, and when a low grid means a fixture pointing straight down would hang into the working space. On dance sidelight booms it helps light dancers' legs without washing the floor. Theatres and studios with low ceilings commonly hang it close to the ceiling to bend light downward and recover vertical space. It is a practical alternative to re-plotting a rig when sightlines or ceiling height limit where a fixture can be aimed.

The concept came from lighting designer Jules Fisher for a New York production of A Christmas Carol, and City Theatrical built the first units. Because the Beam Bender line spans several sizes for different luminaires, choosing the model matched to your fixture matters for a clean fit on the rig.
