- Handle-Operated Iris Gives Smooth, Precise Beam Size Control
- Drop-In Design Installs Quickly In Fixed Focus Ellipsoidal Spotlights
- Tempered, Heat Resistant Leaves Stand Up To Sustained Lamp Heat
Lighting designers, production electricians, and venue technicians reach for an iris when a fixed focus ellipsoidal needs a tighter or wider beam without refocusing, re-hanging, or swapping instruments. This model is made for the Source Four, so it suits the large installed base of those fixtures in theaters, touring racks, corporate stages, and rental houses.
Typical jobs include isolating a single performer, picking out a set piece or architectural detail, and tightening a special for a cue. Because the iris drops into the fixture, it can be added to a rig as needed and moved between instruments instead of buying a dedicated fixture for every look. It also gives operators a quick way to adjust coverage during focus calls and tech.
Compared with changing lenses or adding fixtures, an iris gives you a round, adjustable beam from the instrument you already own. City Theatrical also offers matching irises for the Source Four Jr. and Strand SL, so mixed rigs can be covered with one accessory family. That makes it a practical stock item for rental inventories and production shops.
