City Theatrical 2200 Gobo Donut For 6" Ellipsoidal And S4 Zoom

Lighting designers, electricians, and production teams reach for a donut when a gobo projection looks soft on stage or in an architectural install. Gobo work lives or dies on edge definition, and this is the simplest accessory fix. By reducing the aperture of the fixture, the donut works much like squinting does for the human eye: edges tighten and the pattern reads cleaner at the throw distance. The tradeoff is a reduction in brightness, which many designers are willing to accept for a more defined look.

This donut is sized for 6" ellipsoidal and Source Four Zoom class fixtures, making it the right part for a rental inventory, theatre rig, or touring package that carries those units. City Theatrical offers separate donuts for other ellipsoidal families and beam angles, so match the fixture to the part before ordering rather than assuming one size covers a mixed rig.

Keeping a few on the shelf is a low-cost way to fine-tune gobo work during focus calls and tech rehearsals without swapping fixtures. It suits theatre, corporate production, and venue installs where pattern clarity matters.
