- Durable Black Powdercoat Finish Stands Up To Repeated Handling On Load-In And Strike
- Light Gauge Steel Fabrication Suits Frequent Focus Changes And Rental Inventory
- Made In The USA For Dependable Domestic Manufacturing
Lighting designers and electricians who project gobos know that a template rarely lands perfectly crisp straight out of the focus. This donut gives focus crews a fast, repeatable way to tighten that image without changing the fixture, the lens tube, or the gobo itself. It sits in the color frame slot of an ellipsoidal reflector spotlight, where it reduces the aperture, much as squinting helps the eye resolve detail.
The tradeoff is well understood: a smaller aperture produces a cleaner pattern edge, and some output is given up to get there. For theatrical rigs, touring packages, houses of worship, and corporate or broadcast stages where texture and breakup patterns carry the look, that is a tradeoff designers are often willing to make. Rental shops and venue stock rooms also benefit from keeping a few on hand for fixtures that need a quick image fix before a show.
This version is sized for the 10° Source Four and Strand SL ellipsoidals. City Theatrical offers donuts across many fixture types and apertures, so matching the part to the instrument and the desired brightness balance is straightforward when you are speccing a full inventory.
