City Theatrical 2404 185MM Top Hat For Glare And Spill Control

Lighting designers, production electricians, and venue technicians reach for a top hat when a fixture is doing its job but the light is landing where it should not. Poor fixture optics or a poorly maintained lens can send stray output into the audience or onto scenery, and adding a top hat gives the crew a fast, low-cost correction without re-hanging or re-plotting the rig.

The second job is sightline control. Audience members and camera operators often find a bright, exposed source objectionable, so a top hat reduces the angle from which the lens can be seen. That matters in theaters, broadcast sets, and live event stages where fixtures hang low, face the house, or sit within a camera's field of view.

City Theatrical designs its Standard Top Hats specifically for entertainment lighting. Confirm lens tube compatibility before ordering. The manufacturer cautions that light loss occurs when longer accessories are used in wider lens tubes, and that extreme loss occurs with any accessory in the widest lens tubes.
