City Theatrical 2465 PAR 16 Half Top Hat For Glare Control

Professional designers choose half top hats over full ones for a practical reason. A full top hat hides the lamp but lights up its own interior, leaving a bright ring the audience can still see. Rotate this half version so the full side faces the viewer, and that bright interior disappears along with the fixture itself. It is sized for PAR 16 fixtures, which makes it a fit for compact accent units, scenic practicals, and tight overhead positions where a visible hot spot would break the look of the stage.

For designers who specify by sightline, the half profile offers a cleaner result than a full hood. It is a quick fix during tech when a unit reads from house seats. City Theatrical also offers other finishes: white inside and outside is ordered by adding a W to the catalog number, and a white exterior with black flocked interior is available. Call for pricing on those options. Rental shops and production electricians can stock it as a reusable accessory for repeat productions. Not recommended for use in 70° or 90° lens tubes, where extreme loss of light will occur.
