City Theatrical 2467 3" Fresnel Half Top Hat For Glare Control

Lighting designers, theatrical electricians, and venue technicians use this accessory to control where light from a Fresnel goes and what the audience sees. A full top hat shields the lamp but lights up its own interior, which creates a bright ring that draws the eye to the fixture. A half hood mounted with its full side facing the viewer removes that glow, so the fixture visually disappears and the beam does the work.

It suits theaters, concert stages, houses of worship, and televised productions where sightlines are tight and instruments hang in plain view. Because it is sized specifically for the Fresnel body, it gives a clean, purpose-built look on the pipe. City Theatrical also makes this style for many other fixture types, so a rig with mixed instruments can stay visually consistent from one position to the next.

Specifiers working from a plot can match accessory sizes to fixture types using the manufacturer's sizing table. Special orders are available for productions with unusual finish or sightline requirements.
