Incandescent PAR fixtures run hot, and gel is a recurring consumable on every show. This accessory is built for lighting designers, head electricians, rental shops, and venue technicians who maintain PAR 64 inventory and want to cut the cost and labor of replacing burned color.
In theaters, touring rigs, and house plots with long run times, moving color away from the lamp changes how often gel has to be swapped. Compared with leaving the gel frame in its stock position, an extender protects your color budget without modifying the fixture itself. It also suits rental stock that gets reused across many productions, where gel replacement adds up between shows. Less frequent re-gelling also means fewer trips up the ladder during load-in, strike, and mid-run maintenance.
Sizing matters, because City Theatrical offers extenders for many fixture models and this one is matched to the PAR 64. Use it in standard lens tubes only. The manufacturer cautions against any accessory in wide 70° or 90° lens tubes, since extreme light loss will occur.
