Incandescent theatrical fixtures run hot, and color media is a recurring cost on every production. This extender is built for lighting designers, production electricians, and rental shops that keep replacing scorched gel on repertory shows, touring rigs, and house inventories. Moving the gel farther from the fixture lets each cut last through more focus calls and more performances.

This version is sized for the Source Four PAR and can also be used with S4 PARNel, S4 Zoom, and S4 14 degree fixtures, which makes it a practical stock item for venues running mixed Source Four inventories. City Theatrical offers matching versions for ellipsoidals, PAR 64 cans, and metric fixtures, so a house can standardize on one accessory line across its rig.

Check lens tube angle before specifying extenders for a plot. The manufacturer advises against using any accessory in wide lens tubes because of severe light loss. Compared with replacing burned gel mid-run, an extender is a one-time purchase that pays back through lower color media spend.
