Lighting designers, electricians, and production teams reach for this louver when an 11-inch Selador fixture needs tighter control over stray light but there is no room for a full-length top hat. It serves the same purpose as a top hat, yet it does so in a fraction of the depth, which matters on crowded pipes, in tight architectural coves, and in theatrical rigs where fixtures hang close together.
The cell structure shapes the edges of the beam so the fixture reads cleaner from the house, while the face of the unit stays sleek and low key. That makes it a practical choice for theater, architectural installations, and any design where visible hardware and spill light are both concerns. Compared with a standard top hat, it keeps the fixture profile compact. Compared with a generic shield, it is sized for this specific fixture, so there is no field modification or guesswork at focus.
City Theatrical also builds custom egg crate and Hexcel louvers for other fixtures, so a rig with mixed units can be matched through a single source. Call the manufacturer for custom options.
