Lighting designers, production electricians, and theatre technicians use half top hats when a fixture must disappear from audience view without turning the hood itself into a bright object. A full top hat shades the lamp but lights up its own interior, which draws the eye back to the unit. A half top hat solves that by offering a long side that can be rotated toward the viewer, so the glowing interior is no longer visible and the fixture reads as dark.

This version is sized for the D-60, so it suits theatre, corporate staging, and venue rigs where that fixture is hung and sight lines matter. Rotation is part of the focus process: turn the full side toward the viewer, then check from the house position to confirm the fixture reads dark.

Compared with a generic hood, a part cut to the D-60 size gives rental houses and venue crews a repeatable way to standardize sight-line control across a plot, with fewer surprises at focus call.
