Wash fixtures throw a soft beam with a wide spread and no defined edge, so light lands on scenery, backdrops, and stage areas that should stay dark. Pulling spill off a masking leg or a cyc cleans up contrast and keeps the audience looking at the performer. This barndoor family lets lighting designers, electricians, and production crews shape that beam at the fixture instead of improvising with tape and flags or re-hanging units during focus calls.

The range is built for the ETC fos/4 line, covering both Fresnel and Panel fixtures, so a rig that mixes fixture sizes can standardize on one accessory style from one manufacturer. That matters in theater, touring, corporate, and broadcast work, where consistent hardware speeds load-in and keeps spares simple.

Compared with improvised shutters, a purpose-built barndoor from City Theatrical is matched to its fixture, so it works as part of the rig rather than as a workaround. Choose the version that corresponds to the fixture on your plot, and carry spares that fit your inventory.
