The City Theatrical 290 is a pipe end tail down sidearm for riggers and lighting crews who hang heavy fixtures from upright pipe and need a mount that keeps stress off the clamp. It fits touring rigs, theater and venue installs, and rental inventory where fixtures keep getting heavier and older sidearms leave little margin.

Within the Safer Sidearm range, the 290 sits in the higher load tier alongside the steel sidearm, well above the lighter-duty sidearms and Jr models. That makes it a sensible pick for modern LED fixtures, moving lights, and speaker positions where a standard sidearm would be undersized. Plan each position around its arm length limit, since the load rating applies only within that maximum.

Because a section of pipe comes with the assembly, you can spec the mount and its tail from a single part number instead of sourcing pipe separately. For production managers and integrators building out a pipe-based lighting or audio position, that means fewer line items on the order and fewer fit questions at load-in.
