City Theatrical 4160 DMX Projector Dowser For Stage Blackouts

Inexpensive digital projectors show up on productions of every size, but they share a flaw that is hard to engineer around. When the image fades out, the projector still emits a small amount of light, commonly called video black, and it reads clearly against a dark stage during a blackout. For theatre, live event, and touring productions that rely on projection, that glow breaks the cue.

The Projector Dowser from City Theatrical solves the problem with a physical flag instead of relying on the projector's own black level. The flag moves in front of the lens only when you need total darkness, which lets designers and programmers keep using affordable projectors without giving up clean blackouts. It can be triggered from a DMX control system or from a simple contact closure, so it fits into existing control setups without a dedicated video interface.

The included mounting plate supports a variety of hanging positions, so placement can follow the needs of the production rather than the other way around. The power supply is sold separately, and a unit that runs up to two dowsers is available under part number 2199.
