The Clear-Com IKB-12P is a flush mount handset intercom station designed for integration into the HCS Industrial Intercom System. It is built for facilities engineers, broadcast plant operators, and production integrators who require a robust, networked single-channel partyline solution with reliable caller identification and call signaling across large station counts. The active handset cradle automatically places the station onto the partyline when the handset is lifted, enabling hands-free workflow without manual switching. Flush mounting to a standard electrical back box keeps the installation clean and surface-unobtrusive, making it well suited for control rooms, broadcast galleries, industrial facilities, and public address environments where panel-integrated intercom is preferred.
The IKB-12P operates within the HCS ecosystem, which supports up to 64 endpoints per system hosted by an HMS-4X running HCS firmware via the HLI-ET2 module. Powering via PoE eliminates the need for local power supplies, simplifying infrastructure in installations where conduit runs are already carrying network cabling. The station supports 28 GPI inputs for call signal integration and 12 front-panel buttons for direct call signaling, giving operators tactile control without navigating software menus. Browser-based configuration, auto-discovery, and centralized firmware upgrades reduce commissioning time and ongoing maintenance overhead compared to proprietary configuration tools common in legacy intercom platforms.
For audio quality, the IKB-12P delivers a microphone preamplifier with 60 dB of gain, a frequency response contoured for speech intelligibility, and less than 0.1% THD, ensuring clear communication even in noisy industrial environments. The headphone output supports loads above 32 ohms with up to 12 dB of gain and a selectable sidetone level, providing comfortable monitoring. Cold standby redundancy at the system level adds reliability for mission-critical applications where intercom downtime is unacceptable.
