The Comrex 9500-5400 ACCESS MultiRack is built for broadcast engineers and production teams that require multiple concurrent IP codec connections without stacking individual units. Equivalent to five discrete codecs in a 1RU enclosure, it addresses the real operational problem of scaling remote contribution and distribution links in a compact rack footprint. Compatibility spans the full Comrex IP audio codec family, including ACCESS and BRIC-Link units, as well as third-party SIP endpoints via EBU 3326 mode. CrossLock technology maintains stable, secure connections over unpredictable IP networks, while the Switchboard service simplifies traversal across firewalls and NAT environments. The HTML5 interface requires no dedicated software, making remote management practical from any browser. Optional Fleet Commander support allows centralized control across a Comrex codec deployment, and HotSwap mode enables a secondary cellular backup path when a modem is added.
For facilities evaluating rack-based codec solutions, the MultiRack eliminates the cost and rack space of five individual units while preserving per-codec flexibility.
