The Elation XLS172 Skywriter HPX M-40 is engineered for touring lighting designers, festival production companies, and large-venue installers who need maximum laser output without overloading electrical infrastructure. Its 40W direct-diode RGB engine produces over 1,000 analog-mixed colors using individual red, green, and blue diode modules, giving designers full-spectrum color that integrates cleanly alongside conventional moving head fixtures on shared rigs.
Precision is handled by 30,000 PPS closed-loop galvanometers with a beam divergence under 1.4 mRad, making aerials and pattern projection sharp and consistent across the long throw distances common in arena and outdoor festival environments. A 0.1 to 45 degree zoom range allows dynamic beam shaping from tight aerial beams to wide atmospheric effects without additional optics. The fully sealed optical deck and IP53-rated 6061 aluminum enclosure are suited to the environmental demands of outdoor festivals and touring applications.
X-Laser Mercury control is built directly into the fixture, enabling native DMX, sACN, Art-Net, and RDM integration without external decoders or proprietary dongles. With 450-plus digital gobos, 50 color macros, 11 digital prisms, 60 motion macros, and an onboard diagnostic LCD, the M-40 supports deep programming on any major console platform. At 950W peak draw, it fits within standard production power distribution without the overhead typically required by fixtures at this output level. It ships in a Pelican-style road case and is covered by a 2-year warranty.
