The K&M 12179 is a steel music stand built for musicians and educators who need reliable, repeatable setup stability without the wobble of lighter-duty alternatives. The locking base uses a special mechanism that snaps U-profile legs tightly into their sockets, eliminating flex during performance. Height adjusts via a non-scratching locking screw, making it suitable for seated or standing players without marring floors or cases.
The removable perforated steel music desk attaches via two locking screws, providing a secure writing and reading surface that won't shift mid-performance. Legs fold flat for compact storage and transport, making this stand practical for pit orchestras, rehearsal rooms, touring musicians, and installed practice facilities alike. The two-piece folding rod design further reduces pack size without sacrificing rigidity when deployed.
Compared to single-locking or friction-fit stands, the K&M 12179 offers a noticeably more rigid platform, particularly relevant for musicians in high-traffic rehearsal environments or stage settings where stands are set up and struck repeatedly. The all-steel construction provides durability that plastic-bodied alternatives cannot match.
