The K&M 12242 is a compact LED light designed for performers, conductors, and music directors who need reliable, adjustable illumination during live performance and rehearsal. The flexible gooseneck allows precise beam aiming to illuminate sheet music without creating glare for nearby musicians, making it well suited for orchestra pits, theater stages, choir risers, and recording sessions where controlled lighting is critical.

The extra-wide clip accommodates music desks, tabletops, and other mounting surfaces, while the unit can also be deployed as a freestanding light. Battery operation keeps the setup cable-free, and the option to run from mains power via an external power unit provides flexibility for fixed installations or extended use scenarios where battery replacement is impractical. The plastic housing keeps the unit lightweight, reducing load on stand hardware during long performances.

Unlike basic clip lights that rely on incandescent or lower-output LEDs, the 12242 delivers approximately 1,150 lux from just two LEDs rated for 100,000 hours. That combination of output efficiency and rated lifespan makes it a practical long-term investment for performing arts organizations, touring musicians, and production houses managing multiple stands.
