The K&M 13480 is designed specifically for kettledrum players and conductors who require reliable ergonomic support through extended rehearsals and performances. A pneumatic spring column provides continuous height adjustment across a broad range, allowing the player or conductor to fine-tune their seated position without interrupting a session. The rotatable seat and independently adjustable backrest inclination give performers precise postural control that fixed-position chairs cannot offer.
Upholstered in Trevira CS fabric, both the seat and backrest are constructed from inherently fire-resistant materials, satisfying the safety requirements of professional stage, orchestra pit, and broadcast studio environments where venue compliance is non-negotiable. The five-leg steel base provides a stable, balanced footprint on stage floors, while the slip-resistant feet protect both the performer and the floor surface during active use. A continuously height-adjustable one-third circle footrest supports proper playing posture for percussion applications specifically.
For touring ensembles, permanent orchestra installations, and broadcast studios, the 13480 addresses a gap that general-purpose seating cannot fill. Its combination of application-specific ergonomics, certified fire-resistant materials, and quiet operation makes it the professional choice over generic office or music room alternatives.
