The Lectrosonics DMTH4 is built for AV integrators designing conferencing and sound reinforcement systems in boardrooms, courtrooms, worship centers, hotels, and distance learning facilities. Where a standard telephone hybrid simply bridges a phone line into a mixer, the DMTH4 functions as a full DM Series digital matrix processor, accepting telephone lines, video codecs, and auxiliary audio sources and placing them on the same digital bus as microphone inputs. The result is a unified system where remote callers and codec feeds are treated identically to local microphones, with the same routing flexibility and signal processing depth applied to every channel.
At the core of the unit is a 3-in/24-out digital matrix with proportional gain automixing and the patented AutoSkew process, which eliminates the comb filtering and abrupt gating artifacts associated with conventional automatic mixing schemes. Two dedicated acoustic echo cancellers, one for the telephone connection and one for the video codec connection, work alongside the automixing algorithm to suppress far-end echo without requiring a panic button or manual re-convergence. Mix-minus matrix routing decouples loudspeaker and microphone zones, reducing acoustic feedback and echo return across complex multi-speaker environments.
For integrators managing large systems, the DMTH4 daisy-chains with other DM Series processors through Digital Audio Network Interface ports using standard RJ45 connections, scaling to hundreds of input channels in a master/slave stack. Control is handled via USB or RS-232 with up to 128 internal macros, each holding 64 commands, and a built-in macro recorder that simplifies commissioning. The fully balanced audio path eliminates pin 1 problems throughout the signal chain, making it a reliable choice for permanent installed AV where long-term noise-free operation is required.
