The Lectrosonics HMa is a professional plug-on XLR wireless transmitter built for broadcast engineers, ENG crews, theater production teams, and touring sound professionals who need to wirelessly deploy any microphone or line-level source without altering the source device. It connects directly to any standard 3-pin XLR output, making it equally at home on a boom pole, a handheld dynamic, or a wired boundary microphone in an installed environment. Phantom power is selectable at 5, 15, and 48 volts, or can be disabled entirely for dynamic mics and line-level signals, giving engineers the flexibility to work across any mic type without additional adapters.

The transmitter uses Lectrosonics Digital Hybrid Wireless technology, which digitally encodes audio in the transmitter and decodes it in the receiver while transmitting via an analog FM link. This approach eliminates the compandor artifacts common in conventional analog wireless systems and delivers wide frequency response with extremely low distortion across the full audio bandwidth. A dual envelope soft limiter provides more than 30 dB of headroom above full modulation, protecting against transient clipping in demanding live and studio environments. Compatibility modes extend usefulness across legacy Lectrosonics receivers and select third-party systems.

The machined aluminum housing is built to withstand the physical demands of daily production use. IR and USB ports streamline setup and firmware management on location or in a system rack. Multiple frequency band versions are available to match regional regulatory requirements, and frequency selection steps of 100 kHz or 25 kHz support precise channel coordination in congested RF environments. The HMa is the clear choice when reliability, audio transparency, and RF flexibility are non-negotiable.
