Lectrosonics MUTE Belt-Worn Mute Switch for Servo-Bias Transmitters

The Lectrosonics MUTE is a belt-worn active muting device designed for wireless transmitter systems that use a TA5M input connector. Powered by the transmitter's bias voltage, it inserts in line between the microphone and transmitter, giving talent or a production assistant a dedicated, easy-to-reach toggle for silencing the mic feed without touching the transmitter pack. This matters most in broadcast, live theater, and sports production where discreet and reliable muting is non-negotiable.

The optically coupled circuit eliminates the clicks and pops that mechanical switching would introduce, keeping the audio chain clean during mute transitions. Critically, it does not affect the RF output of the transmitter, so the receiver maintains lock and signal monitoring is uninterrupted. The toggle switch is weather resistant, the housing is powder coated machined aluminum, and the belt clip is anodized for durability. The supplied cable features weather-resistant vinyl boots at each end, and the included wiring kit adds a 5-pin connector, strain reliefs, and an additional moisture-protective boot for the lavalier connector.

Compatibility spans all Lectrosonics transmitters with TA5M inputs, covering a wide range of lavalier and headset wiring configurations including Countryman B6, E6, DPA, and standard servo-bias wiring. Note that this unit is not compatible with MM400 or WM models. For outdoor sports production or any environment where moisture, garment concealment, and positive-action switching are priorities, the MUTE provides a purpose-built solution that generic inline switches cannot match.
