The Lectrosonics UMC16B series is built for systems integrators, RF coordinators, and touring production engineers who need to manage antenna distribution across large-scale wireless deployments. By feeding two antenna inputs to up to eight diversity receivers, or up to 16 non-diversity receivers, the UMC16B eliminates the rat's nest of individual antenna runs that accumulates in dense multi-channel setups. The unit is available across multiple frequency bands to match regional spectrum allocations and specific system requirements.
At the core of the design is a ceramic bandpass filter that strips out-of-band energy before it reaches the amplifier stage, protecting downstream receivers from intermodulation products caused by strong adjacent signals. A high-current RF amplifier with a very high third-order intercept point then applies gain ahead of a Wilkinson strip-line splitter/isolator, which divides the signal into isolated paths and remains termination-independent. Unloaded outputs have only a minor effect on active channels, making the UMC16B practical in systems where receiver counts change between shows or installations.
Power flexibility supports both mobile and installed environments. An external DC supply powers the unit for touring rigs, while an included regulated AC supply covers permanent installs. Auto-reset fuses on each receiver output and a locking rear-panel power connector add reliability and serviceability without requiring tools. The 19-inch rack-mount chassis fits standard touring and install racks, keeping the RF infrastructure tidy and accessible for system maintenance.
