The Lowell 8-inch single cone speaker family is engineered for distributed audio installations where multiple circuits must share a single speaker location. These drivers are built for retrofit applications in commercial and institutional environments such as schools, houses of worship, retail spaces, and corporate facilities, where running music and paging from separate amplifiers to a common point is a system requirement. The dual voice coil design enables mechanical mixing of two audio circuits directly at the speaker, reducing infrastructure costs compared to deploying separate drivers for each signal path.
Each driver features a 15W cone transducer with a highly efficient ceramic magnet structure and a 20-gauge stamped steel frame with zinc-plated finish. Transformer configurations provide compatibility with 25V and 70V distributed audio systems, with multiple wattage taps that let installers fine-tune coverage levels zone by zone. The assembly delivers a broad dispersion pattern suited to ceiling and wall installations where even coverage across a room is the priority. Grilles and enclosures are ordered separately, giving integrators flexibility to match existing architectural finishes. These drivers are sold individually and ordered in case quantities, making them practical for large-scale rollouts across multi-room or campus-wide installations.
Installers should note that these dual voice coil drivers are intended specifically for applications where both voice coils are connected to all-call or building-wide amplifier systems. They are not suited for configurations where one coil feeds a local or zoned system, as this introduces cross-talk across the speaker line. For zoned applications, separate single voice coil drivers are the correct solution.
