The Lowell 8-inch moisture-resistant single cone speaker family is engineered for AV integrators and system designers who need reliable audio coverage in environments where standard drivers fail. Locker rooms, greenhouses, hot tub areas, outdoor restaurants, and similarly humid spaces demand a driver that resists moisture degradation without sacrificing intelligibility for paging and low-level background music. These drivers fill that role, and are available with or without a mounted dual-voltage transformer to accommodate both low-impedance and 25V/70V distributed audio architectures.
The cotton cloth cone treated with phenolic resin and sealed with acrylic lacquer gives the driver its moisture resistance at the material level, not as an afterthought coating. The stamped 20-gauge steel frame with zinc plating keeps the basket mechanically stable and corrosion-resistant in damp utility installations. Frequency response and sensitivity specs are consistent with commercial paging performance standards, making these drivers a practical choice for background music zones where audio quality still matters. If used outdoors, the speaker should be installed in a location shielded from direct weather exposure. Grille and enclosure are ordered separately, giving integrators full flexibility to spec the appropriate finish and housing for each installation. Sold individually and ordered in multiples of 16.
Compared to general-purpose replacement drivers, the Lowell moisture-resistant construction targets permanent installed audio applications where maintenance access is limited and long-term reliability in adverse conditions is the priority. The transformer option simplifies wiring in 70V systems without requiring a separate line matching transformer.
