The Lowell DSL 8" Speaker Assembly series is designed for integrators and systems contractors who need a reliable, finished-looking surface-mount solution for background music and paging in classrooms, offices, retail locations, and similar commercial environments. The line spans three configurations, from a standalone steel baffle for integrators supplying their own driver, to fully assembled 8-inch dual cone speaker systems that ship ready to install, so each project can be spec'd appropriately without overbuying.
The steel construction with sloped front and beveled edges gives each configuration a clean, architectural appearance that fits standard commercial interiors without requiring additional trim work. Built-in knockouts for 500 Series wiremold on the top and bottom simplify conduit routing at the wall, while the universal mounting hole pattern in the rear accommodates a range of installation scenarios. The complete assembly variants include an 8-inch 12W dual cone driver with a 25V/70V transformer, making them directly compatible with the distributed audio systems most commonly found in commercial installs.
Available as a baffle only, as a complete assembly without volume control, or as a complete assembly with a volume control knob, the DSL 8" series covers the breadth of what a typical commercial audio install requires. The consistent form factor across all three configurations means the same rough-in approach works regardless of which variant is specified, simplifying coordination across multi-room or multi-zone projects.
