The Lowell KL100-DB is a 100W mono autoformer attenuator designed for installed audio applications where volume settings must remain secure and tamper-resistant. The key activation switch prevents unauthorized adjustment, making it a purpose-built solution for paging systems, emergency notification networks, and life-safety audio in commercial, institutional, and public assembly environments. It is compatible with both 25V and 70V distributed speaker lines, covering the vast majority of installed audio infrastructure in North America.
Unlike standard rotary attenuators that rely on passive resistive designs, the autoformer topology in the KL100-DB maintains consistent impedance loading across the speaker line, protecting amplifier performance at all attenuation settings. The Phoenix-style termination block accepts up to 14-gauge wire, suits single or multi-speaker runs, and supports fast, reliable field connections without soldering. The included 1-gang decorator wall plate allows the unit to mount directly into a standard electrical outlet box, integrating cleanly with commercial wall finishes.
